Circulation Within My Skull on the body problems.
Heidegger had profound problems with the notion of the “body”, problems which he never resolved. Witness his enormous attempt, right throughout his work, to distance man from the animal,to propose that an abyss separates the human and the animal. His polemics against the work of Rilke in regards to the body and animality, his insistence that Nietzsche by inverting Plato, and claiming that man is nothing but body, remains trapped within the very metaphysics that he wishes to subvert.
