The latest Philosopher's Zone podcast is a good introduction to the thought of Friedrich Kittler. As I understand it, just as Heidegger said that we have to know the pre-Socratic's Greek language in order to understand the first beginning, Kittler said we need to understand how to use technology, specifically how to program machines, in order to understood technology in the epoch of machine computation.  ¶ 4:17 PM
