If there's a historical change in the understanding of being from crafts tech to enframing hi-tech, is there a similar change from 8-bit games to 64-bit games? The old games were automated board games, moving colored bits around a screen, like moving pieces on a board -- bracketing out the qualitative changes of interactivity computer games introduced. With modern VR style games, the player is a subject immersed in a world, say Ilsa running around Casablanca trying to score exit visas. This VR world embodies its own understanding of being. The player is no longer at home playing an 8-bit game, but in Casablanca behaving in another world.
